Two Left Feet

Kallie Emblidge, 2026. 4.5 stars.

This was absolutely delightful and reminds me of Cat Sebastian’s baseball MM romance series, because we spend most of the story in the inner life of the MMC as he works to unravel his feelings about remaining in the closet, while being tempted for a younger, or more junior member of his team. I really loved the local flavour of Camden’s fictitious team and how much Ollie connects with the neighbourhood and his club, while still keeping or sacrificing his love life. When he meets Leo, he builds friction and animosity and then weaves in and out of control while they orbit one another.

The supporting characters of the club were really well-realized, and his relationship with his mum and ex-girlfriend centered him in his life before Leo. Where I wanted a little more character was with Leo, to understand that he was ready for a life partner and adult relationship, because we mostly meet him in relation to Ollie and Ollie’s needs and desires. My god, I would love to see Kallie Emblidge play with dual POV in a future novel, but mostly I want so many more novels with her.

This is probably perfect, and I think I’ll read it again. But I will most definitely share it with my friends and romance crew, because this was a top ten book of the year.
